Hello

I'm Dee, and I'm glad you're here!

If you have a minute, let me tell you my WHY.

My Why

They say you should only go into business if you have a "Why". Why do what I do?

Because somewhere right now, there is an elderly person in a nursing home who feels lonely, feels like it’s all over, and feels like they weren’t important. That their life didn’t matter. But everyone’s life matters.

Because somewhere right now, there is a person who is retired, and lives alone. They go about their day lonely, hanging on every little shred of leftover time their family or friends might have to give them. They feel like they don’t matter. But everyone’s life matters.

Because somewhere right now, there is a mother who is overwhelmed with the day-to-day life of just trying to keep the kids safe and fed and clothed and running them here and there and doing laundry and dishes and supper and groceries and cleaning and she lost herself somewhere along the way. She feels like she doesn’t matter. But everyone’s life matters.

Because somewhere right now, there is mom whose kids are grown and moved out of the house. She feels like the most important part of her life is over and doesn't know who she is anymore. She doesn't know how to navigate this new season and feels lost and sad and lonely. She feels like she doesn't matter. But everyone's life matters.

Because somewhere right now, there is a woman who feels insecure, who only notices her flaws when she looks in the mirror, who can’t live in the moment because she’s too busy trying to keep up with society’s version of beautiful, who sinks into bed at the end of the day feeling like she’s not enough. Like she just isn’t good enough to matter. But everyone’s life matters.

Because somewhere right now, there is a teenager who feels like they don’t fit in, like their family life is hard, school is hard, peer pressure is hard, and they feel like they’re drowning in it all. And they feel like they really don’t matter. But everyone’s life matters.

I want to capture your story. I want to capture you. You matter.

Stepping in front of my camera:

  • I get to see you.

  • I get to show yourself to you.

  • I get to have a glimpse of who you are.

  • I get to record the photo so others can see you.

  • So others can get a glimpse of who you are.

  • You matter.

Sitting down for an interview with me:

  • I get to learn about you.

  • I get to hear about you, from you.

  • I get to record it so others can learn about you.

  • So others can hear about you, from you.

  • You matter.

D Portraits is my business. I show people, through videos and photos, that they matter.

Thank you for entrusting your photos and your story with me.

Dee
